Description
2024 Teachers Class – October 14 – 17, 2024 (With optional stitching day on Oct 18) will be a hybrid class of both online and In-person
Dear Teachers and Advanced Stitchers,
I hope this finds you well and your autumn season is soothing for you.
We will be happy to share you the information on Teachers Class 2024.
The 2024 Teachers’ Class (October 14 – 17: 18th for optional stitching day) will be a hybrid class of both online and in-person.
For this year’s teacher’s class, we will be concentrating on deepening the meaning of Three Pillars of Nuido:
Rationality
How do we teach the techniques more effectively both online and in person?
A new teaching tool based on the current textbook and incorporating the stitching video will be introduced. We believe it will be extremely helpful for teaching.
Sensitivity
We will be concentrating on nurturing color scheme skill and sensitivity, which is normally extremely challenging to explain with words. We plan to do this through demonstrations and exercises.
Spirituality
We often strive to acquire the skill and keep asking the question, “How can I stitch better?” However, why do we need to stitch better? Why do we want to improve our stitching? What is it to walk the path to Nuido? How can we encourage our students so that even when they are incapable of stitching physically, they can continue to walk the path to Nuido?
This is a subject which is as important as the other two, but it is often left out of the discussion. We would like to proceed with this considering other teachers’ experiences.
Introducing Renewed Phase 2&3 Hiogi
In addition to the topics below, we would like to introduce the updated/refined Phase 2&3 Hiogi. It has been a long-term, extremely popular piece despite the challenge of learning the numerous techniques required with two pieces combined into one. We would like to introduce the updated piece which will add to the choices for your students. We will also have a color scheme session based on the fabric types and colors.
We are introducing a new online textbook focused on technique categories specifically for teachers
This textbook, which can be used as part of LMS teaching materials, allows teachers to display diagrams and videos to the class.
Pre-requisite for the class
The pre-requisite for all Teachers Classes, Advanced Classes, and Monthly Advanced Classes is “Phase X and above.” This means that you need to complete TAKING Phase X Class, but there is NO NEED to complete stitching the piece (Kusudama or Double Cypress Fans).
For example, if you take Phase X class this year, you can take this year’s Teachers Class, which will be held in the following week.
Pieces to worked in the class
There is no requirement to bring a particular piece for Teachers Classes. It is recommended to work on the piece which has similar techniques to the topic of the year.
We will discuss the miscellaneous pieces you will be working on during the class, as much as the time allows.
We look forward to your participation!
