Description

We are happy to announce that we will be holding a Two-Day Phase 12 Class, both in person and online!!

We full-heartedly enjoyed tackling Phase 11 together with everyone, especially this unique and challenging Takeyamachi techniques on the Sha fabric. We are amazed by how well everyone overcame the difficulty and completed a beautiful summer piece.

This year, we are featuring our next two pieces, which are Phase 12:

1201 Yushoku Spring
Delicate cherry blossoms and the young-green bamboo create a subtle spring taste enhanced by the plum, camellia, and wild flowers.  The variety of plants demonstrates that spring is not just one month or one flower.  In addition, the Imperial Family is called to mind by the carts in the background.

The rectangular shapes in the foreground are poem papers used for writing poetry in one’s best calligraphy.  The beautiful patterns on the paper enhance the overall presentation of the poem.

Spring is the time for planting rice, putting seeds in the ground, and forming sprouts and roots.  In the same way, childhood is the time of formation for the person.  After birth, we start to be interested in the world, and our ideas about the world and life begin to take shape.  It is a time of energy and learning.

1202 Blossom of Youth
The obi design was created using pale and fresh colors by envisioning what would suit a young lady in spring.

The inside designs are made relatively larger, and movement is added by the structure of the large twisted flower motif as well as the cord.
This new impression is created by coming sophisticated, classic Yushoku or stylized motifs with modern, three-dimensional motifs.

The class will focus on explaining the techniques required for this level, grounded in the three pillars of Nuido, as well as color schemes and the feeling of spring season, over two full days.
Please note that dedicated stitching time may not be provided during the class, so we encourage you to either stitch on your own or attend the Advanced monthly sessions.
