Description
About Summer Workshop
Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2025 Advanced Class and worked together on the beautiful yet challenging piece, Blue Himalayan Poppy. We hope all participants enjoyed the experience as much as we did. We were truly grateful to be able to hold a joint class with Kurenai-kai instructors and staff, where we shared many ideas for achieving better expression.
As mentioned, the embroidery of the Blue Himalayan Poppy symbolizes an inner energy that overflows. We hope both embroiderers and viewers feel a sense of courage and vitality as they connect with the wide range of emotions this piece evokes. The flower may represent aspects of your character or nature you wish to nurture.
Even for advanced stitchers, this piece presented unique challenges, especially in achieving the delicate transparency of the petals—a special expression that required care and refinement.
Change in our curriculum for Summer Class 2025
Originally, we had planned to offer this same design to Phase students. However, after much discussion, we decided that a simplified design would be more suitable for the summer workshop for less experienced students.
This will serve as a preparatory step for Phase students before eventually working on the Blue Poppy.
Please carefully note the updated class information below, as the theme has changed:
Summer Workshop 2025 (In-person/Online) – Open to All Members
Theme: “Rose of the First Haze”
Evokes the image of roses appearing gently through the spring morning mist. Elegant, soft, and filled with refined grace.
Date/Time: August 26–28 (3 days)
10:00 AM – 3:00 PM ET
Class Tuition: $250
Level: Students with All Levels
All levels are welcome; however, Phase 7 and above are recommended.
Please consult your teacher to ensure you can receive adequate support.
We are considering applying a technique similar to Blue Poppy with adjustments to accommodate stitchers in lower phases. Further details are available on our website.
Note: Purchase of the Rose fabric is required. The design will be subject to minor modification. You have a choice to display the piece vertically or horizontally.
FYI, for those who are Phase X and above, you have the option to purchase a recorded video of the 2025 Advanced Class separately, which covered the Himalayan Blue Poppy.
We look forward to your participation in the summer class!!
Also, we kindly ask you to participate in the donation for the renovation at Kurenai-kai (optional). The funds will be used toward renovation, maintenance, and repair, which will be crucial for the future of Japanese embroidery and Nuido.
